WE ARE OPEN FOR VISITORS
BOTHWELL TASMANIA
Bothwell is 70 kilometres north-west of the Tasmanian state capital, Hobart, and a scenic one-hour drive from both the airport or city centre. Situated at an elevation of 350 metres above sea level and enjoying an average annual rainfall of 554mm, Bothwell rests on an open valley flanked by gentle hills. The heath-covered moors of the proximate Central Plateau are punctuated by lakes, rivers and tarns, its mountain contours are strewn with scree and seasonally blanketed with frost and snow. There is little wonder that the earliest Scottish settlers elected to resettle their families in such familiar surrounds. Known as the Gateway to the Highlands, Bothwell is the last major centre before the Lake Highway winds upwards into the central hunting and fishing zones that attract visitors from all over the world. Bothwell's neat rows of colonial cottages create the ambience of village community, a hallmark of the town since its early years. Tasmania is Australia's southern-most state, an island richly veined by rivers and blessed with large reserves of stunning world heritage listed rainforests and lakes. Hobart is a short 1-hour flight from Melbourne, about 1 hour and 40 minutes flight from Sydney and about 2 hours, 20 minutes flight from Brisbane.
